suggestions of past lives
when I find myself photographing in historical contexts, like palaces and villas, I always have an eye on the present and an eye on the past and I imagine how time has deformed the space I am in, who lived there and what it changed. the subjects of this series of shots are suggestions. I like the idea that in front of my photos people can ask themselves questions and, playing with their imagination, give themselves answers: how many people went down the stairs of Villa Malbona and how many turned on the lantern light? who stopped in the study after work, sitting in those armchairs and in the company of whom? how many people have walked on the marble frame of the crypt of the Cavriani Oratory without paying attention to the decorations?
